Next Up in our Lyme Journey: The Cowden Protocol
As many of you know my girls and I were diagnosed with Lyme disease over 3 years ago. So many pieces of our health puzzle fell into place when we got that diagnosis. Unfortunately being diagnosed with Lyme and curing Lyme are not at all the same thing. If we had caught it early, there is a good chance that a fairly short course of antibiotics would have cleared it right up and we would have returned to health. But it was not caught early at all. While we will never know for sure, we are fairly confident that I was infected many years ago and my children were both infected before they were born. Lyme passes through the placenta and can infect babies in utero. They never had a chance. When we were diagnosed we had been on...
Read MoreCowden Lyme Protocol Deep Discount
The cost of the Cowden Protocol for one adult from the nutramedix website for one month is $285 (free shipping). The program lasts for 6 months an each month products can be purchased for that price no matter what they might cost individually. Some months are a better discount than others compared to purchasing the products individually. For children you reduce the dosage based on age/size. So for my 9 year old I’m doing half and for my 5 year old I’m doing 1/4. You can purchase many of the products other places online for less than the full price on the NutraMedix site, HOWEVER some products are only available if you purchase the whole program. AND there are discounts that you can get as well as points you can earn toward future purchases if you purchase through the...

Hello friends. I am humbled by how many are out there reading this blog. Many of you I do not know and will never know. Yet, since I feel like you are along with us for this journey, I call you friends. As many of you know I took a break from blogging a few weeks ago because of a health crisis in my family. I am still not at liberty to share about that, but I will thank you for your prayers and ask you to keep them coming. It is not over, I’m just coming to a place of acceptance and am ready to get back to work. My family has been on a healing journey since before my first child was born. I spent much of 2002 using a wheelchair because of the pain I was...

Read MoreEssential Oils:Charity Blend
In my last post about essential oils I shared about Spice for Life blend. It is terrific for preventing and treating sickness, especially viruses. Today I am going to share about another essential oil blend that Be Young sells. It is called Charity. Since the weather has warmed up my lyme symptoms have come back with a vengeance. The one that disturbs me the most is the brain fog. You may have noticed that my posting has dropped off lately. That is in part because I just can’t make my brain work to understand the things I am trying to research or to put together a coherent post to share. Usually by about noon my brain fog is terrible and I am so frustrated at trying to make my brain work that is when I am searching for something...
Read MoreCold Thermogenesis Challenge Starts Today!
Here’s a video for some inspiration for you. The ice man takes a cold dip So last week I shared about Dr Kruse and his Cold Thermogenesis protocol. Step one is putting your face into ice water daily to begin to get used to the cold. I have been doing it myself for a few days and have learned a few things. I’m also working my way through his blog posts as fast as I can (they are super dense) and have learned a bunch from that as well. First I’ll review. You need to dip your face in 50 degree water once a day. Keep it up as long as you can stand it and until your skin starts to turn pale pink/white then quit. It is best if you do this after a high protein meal and...
Read MoreI want to be well!
Here I am as a high school senior. I was young. I was strong. My brain and my body both worked well and I loved to use them. I ran track, acted in plays, sang in choirs and dreamed of a life preforming on the stage. I had limitless energy and a desire to experience life to the fullest. It is hard at times to remember what I once enjoyed and took for granted. It is my fundamental belief that my body wants to be healthy. I will never be 17 again but that doesn’t mean I can’t improve from here. I believe that everyone has within them the genes necessary to be healthy. That doesn’t mean that it will be easy or that my answer will be your answer. I’m just working my butt off trying to find...
Read More2 Years on GAPS part 3 continued
Yesterday I published the first part of my younger daughters GAPS story. You can read it here. 2 Years on GAPS Part 3 I realized as I was writing it that it was just too long for one blog post so here is the second half of it. Isn’t she beautiful? Not that I’m a biased mama or anything. Another big piece for J was my realization that she needed a Low Oxalate Diet. She was still in diapers when she turned 3 more than a year after we started GAPS and I began to wonder what I could do to encourage her to move on from them. Her older sister had wanted to potty learn and had been fully out of diapers by 2.5 of her own volition. A child who liked her diapers and wanted to keep wearing them...
Read MoreLyme Disease- What it is
I think it is time for a post about Lyme Disease. It is the elephant in the corner of my families health issues. Sometimes I feel like we are so busy chasing the spin off issues it creates we can’t face the Lyme directly. Lyme Disease is caused by the bacterum Borrelia. There are 3 identified species of Borrelia that are known to cause Lyme disease. Borrelia was found in the remains of Otiz the Iceman who was mummified in a glacier 5300 years ago so it isn’t a new disease. It also isn’t isolated to New England in North America although that is where we think my family’s infection comes from. Lyme disease is most commonly spread by the bite of a tick but can also be spread by any biting insect. It has been documented as having been caused...

You can see my other posts about the Leptin Reset here Leptin Reset Leptin Reset Update #1 I feel like a new day is dawning for me but it is like this picture. Just barely visible. Hard to know how long till full light arrives. Of course I am a perpetual optimist so take that with a grain of salt. I always think that health is always over the next horizon. This is a bit of a disjointed update. I apologize for that. I have been busy on other blog and family business and realized today that I hadn’t updated my Leptin reset situation lately so I have dashed this off and am hoping I don’t miss too many typos and sentence fragments. It has been more than 2 months since I started the Leptin reset. Among other things I am...
