Get Healthy To Lose Weight With My Nutritional Therapist!
Today I have a guest post from my nutritional therapist and affiliate partner Lydia Shatney. She has put together a course all about getting healthy so that you can reach the goal of normalizing your weight if that is a challenge for you. Read below about all that her course has to offer! This course can be joined at any time and you work through the materials at your own pace. Don’t wait though since she is offering a special price just through then end of August! Lydia or I will be glad to answer your questions about the course in the comments. That said I always get questions about how GAPS compatible Lydia’s classes are. Lydia has done GAPS herself and understands it very well. While these classes are not strictly GAPS classes everything that she advises is...

Read MoreHighlights from the Extreme Health Library Sale: Fight Depression, Adrenal Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia
I have been so excited to look over the books in this bundle. I always read the cook books first but I’ll get to them another day. Today I wanted to talk about some of these books and materials for various conditions that really stood out to me. To help with that I have some guest posts from the books authors talking about their materials. First off we have Amanda Rose talking about her book Rebuild from Depression: A Nutrient Guide Including Depression in Pregnancy and Postpartum. This book is available in hard cover on Amazon for $19.97 or you can get it in e-book form as a part of this sale. I was surprised to realize when reading this book that although I did not have depression after my children were born I still had other symptoms of...
Read More2012 Year in Review
What a year 2012 has been. I have been taking some time lately to reflect back over the year. The good and the bad, the victories and the defeats. As I look over this year I think about how sick, weak and hopeless I was in the spring. Then I think about how getting my cavitaitons dealt with has been a turning point in my health journey. Learning about anaerobic fermentation and Pickl-It jars has also been a big change for the better this year. 2012 was my first full year as a blogger as well. I have learned and grown so much this year! I started with just a handful of friends and family reading me on blogger. Now I have a self hosted blog with more than 2000 followers on Facebook and hundreds getting my posts in...
Read MoreHigh Sulfur foods? What are they?
We have found ourselves once again embarking on a low sulfur version of GAPS for my eldest. We did this the first year we were on GAPS (started fall of 2010) and seemed to have progressed beyond needing it but here we are back at it again. You can read more about her progress on GAPS here. Two years on GAPS Part 1 I’m suspecting that my falling off the broth wagon is largely to blame. I did so good with broth for so long but several months ago I just stopped using it as regularly and haven’t been able to get back into it. Instead of going through 2 qts of broth each day we go through that much in a week. Not good. So we haven’t entirely quit broth but we haven’t been getting it in...
Read MoreThe state of My Health Summer 2012.
This isn’t the greatest photo of me. My hair is doing something strange and the shadows are weird across my face. BUT this is also one of my favorite photos that I have taken recently. It is commemorating my victory over sickness. I am in the park near my house where I walked with my children to meet up with friends. I travel to this park every week to meet these same friends but for the past 2 years that weekly meeting has involved a car if I was able to make the trip at all. On this day I walked the half mile to the park and I felt good doing it for the first time since 2010. I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be able to make that trip on foot again and I had...
Read MoreUpdate from 13 days post Cavitation Surgery
This is just a quick update on my experience with Cavitation Surgery. To read more about it go to Cavitations and My Dental Health as well as Cavitation Surgery: My Experience At about 10 days post op my tooth pain significantly decreased. I don’t know if it was just enough time or because I began taking a probiotic called Prescript-Assist that was recommended to me for bone healing. Within 24 hours of starting it I was significantly better. I ate some raw zucchini that a friend offered me and was not in horrible pain from the first bite like I had been eating much softer foods just 24 hours previous. I still avoided raw veggies as a rule but that was much better. 12 days post op I put some dried cherries in my mouth without thinking and didn’t notice...

If you haven’t had a chance to read my blog post on Adrenal Fatigue yet go back and read that first. Adrenal Fatigue - The Silent Epidemic Disclaimer: I am not a healthcare professional. I am sharing what I have learned but you need to make your own decisions about your own health care. Consult with a health care professional that you trust for guidance in any changes that you are interested in making. I’m going to remind you of the list I shared in the last post of symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue. This is not an exhaustive list and you only need one symptom from it to suspect adrenal fatigue. Obviously the more symptoms you have the more likely it is. Being tired all the time no matter how much sleep you get. Trouble getting up in...
Read MoreAdrenal Fatigue: The silent epidemic
Image: africa / FreeDigitalPhotos.net I was first diagnosed with adrenal fatigue 10 years ago. At the time I dismissed it as a serious illness, after all I didn’t seem to have any symptoms that stood out from most Americans. I knew that I needed to sleep more and exercise more and manage my stress better, doesn’t everyone? I did change how I ate and tried to take better care of myself but I really didn’t take it very seriously for some reason. I guess it just seemed too hard to fix and not very important. I was still young and foolish enough to think I was invincible. I would say that most people in America today have some form of adrenal fatigue. That fact normalizes it and makes it hard to take it seriously. I now realize that many...
